Networking / LAN

In today’s IT-driven world, a lot of investment is being made into faster internet connections, security, firewall, virtualization, unified communications solutions, etc. while the local area network (LAN) is sometimes left behind. Ironically, the LAN is critical to all of these services to provide a fast, secure and reliable means of transporting data and voice. Wireless LAN / WAN

A WLAN provides wireless network communi-cation over short distances using radio signals instead of traditional network cabling. A wireless local area network (WLAN) extends an existing wired local area network to devices that are not connected to the LAN. We create WLANs by attaching a device called the wireless access point (AP) to the wired local network. Client devices communicate with the wireless access point using a wireless network adapter like a traditional Ethernet adapter. The difference is that the data/voice traffic travels through the air rather than the wire. In today's mobile friendly world, WLAN provides the connectivity on the go and allow workforce to be connected all the time while reducing the cost and maintenance overheads.
